My first Thinkpad that I have bought in 2020 is T580. Second hand for about 400 euros. I have upgraded it to 1TB SSD and 32 GB RAM. Maxed external battery 6600 mAH and new 65W charger. It is a beast for media and programming. Can run Windows 10 and Windows 11. I use Lenovo Vantage to manage drivers.

I know people love riffing on that stupid r/ macbook post, but my T580 is a flimsy piece of shit and undeniably was much cheaper for Lenovo to put together than an aluminum unibody.

Best, near-OEM quality batteries (bought around 100 over the years ) if OEM is no longer available is iFixit. Doesn't appear to offer 72Wh external, tough and will be a bit over your budget in any case: https://www.ifixit.com/de-de/products/lenovo-thinkpad-p51s-p52s-t470-t480-t570-t580-and-tp25-repl

Just so I'm reading this right, this is a 15" T580 with an i7-8650U, 32GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD (?) storage. For that price, I would say its at a good price, a steal? No, but respectable, this is of course not considering its physical state. The 32GB RAM is really the selling point, at least for me.

Get a cheap Lenovo Thinkpad off Facebook marketplace or eBay. I recommend one of the Intel 8th Gen CPUs as they are old and cheap but still quad core. 8th Gen means the first number in the model number is an 8, so like an i7-8650u, i5-8250u, i5-8350u, etc. make sure it's an i5 or i7, the i3 cpus of

its laggy on awful on core i7 Lenovo T580 with 64gB RAM, and fast SSD, but maybe you'll have better luck. Visually and behaviorally very Apple MacOS, but just using Ubuntu with some tweaks, or other more Mac like distress like Elementary is far better.

Id definitely lean towards Lenovo, after dealing with HPs laptops at work and personally I'm just avoiding them and their cheap crap that's just designed to fail juuust after the warranty expires. Haven't had a single problem with a Lenovo machine at work so far, or at home (got a T580 and a thinkce
