Wanna switch from MacBook and use Linux but having doubts

MacBook v Framework are definitely opposing philosophies. However, I will say that the build quality issues of the Framework 13 that were rightly called out in the early videos have been resolved. Chassis stiffness and hinges are improved, although honestly I have both an original and newer Framewor

What New(-ish) laptop can I get to look like a Windows XP era laptop and to work with Windows 7 or higher?

Lenovo ThinkPads are always a good bet, something like the T440p that came out around 2013 would work. If you want more of the white/grey with more weird rounded shapes to make it distinctly early 2000’s, some companies like Panasonic continue to make old style laptops (like the SC-SV2 being a recen

Why aren't all people buying business grade laptops and still buying consumer grade laptops?

"Lenovo ThinkPad is a far cry from what it used to be which is why you see it a lot on reddit that users are buying refurbuhed older ThinkPads" That's not the main reason they're buying older ThinkPads. Reddit users are buying refurbished older ThinkPads because of pricing. Retail prices for new Thi

"Best balanced: i7-3612QM or i7-3632QM — quad-core at 35W TDP, won't thermal thrott

Can a dual core processor handle running a virtual machine?

To be honest, I'm more worried about how W11 will run than the VMs. I used to run VMs on my T410 around five years ago and it was mostly fine. If you're buying a new T470 for this, though, definitely get something quad-core at least, preferably six-core. A T440p can be had for $150 and then you can

Should I fix my old ThinkPad T440p or buy a "new" ThinkPad?

I am a huge T440P fan. I bought one new from Lenovo and used it for 5 years, and its still in use by someone else. Its a tank, and my favorite Thinkpad of all time. However -- time has come to retire it. I would not sink more money into it. I'm not sure what 300 EUR buys you.
