I wouldn't buy anything older than a T430/T530/W530 as my FIRST ThinkPad, and here's why: The T420 has the BETTER old-school "7-row" Keyboard. Once you get used to the excellent 7-row keyboard, you will never want to buy a newer ThinkPad because the newer keyboards suck in comparison.

ThinkPads from the early 2010s. The T420/T430 keyboards are still better than most modern laptop keyboards

The E6x30 Latitudes were great machines, and I hazard they were better than the contemporary ThinkPad: keyboard was almost as good as the ThinkPad X220/T420 (and better than the T430/X230), a few of them had a decent pointing stick, they were easier to repair, didn't have BIOS whitelists and they so

The T430 can be keyboard swapped with the T420 which makes the T430 one of the highest you can go with classic keyboard, that's why this sub simps the T430. Going higher is significantly more expensive: You can buy the ThinkPad 25 You can make a T480-ThinkPad 25 Frankenpad You can buy an 51nb mother

It's another "legendary", "last" thinkpad. In few years, one of the T14/P14s with ryzen will be the "last good one". I myself went from R61, having access to my Friend's T430, T470, moms T480s, friend's T14 gen 1 to now my P14s Gen 4 amd. I fully think my current thinkpad is the best one I've had an

ThinkPad keyboard superiority is an older thing. On T420-T430/T520-T530 (from 2013), the keyboard is incredible. Super deep travel and thick keys.

The E series is budget-friendly, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's made of good quality plastic and has a ThinkPad keyboard. The T series is generally made of magnesium-reinforced plastic. The X series is lightweight and premium, made of carbon fiber. The P series is the professional range with m

Get a plain vanilla business class laptop, like the ThinkPad T, or X series machines. Mind, ThinkPads aren't the only game in town, but they do tend to be well supported and they tend to be more rugged. Someone mentioned the T420, which is quite old by now and only has USB 2.0 ports. I like them and

You want a usable Thinkpad with IBM thinkpad-style keyboard. In that case you have essentially three choices. T25 Anniversary edition. It's essentially a T470 with the IBM Thinkpad keyboard. No mods needed, however, since it was a special edition it's too expensive on sites like ebay etc T420. This

I mean I have owned all kinds of ThinkPad (T430, X240, T480, E15G4) And honestly the modern keyboards are still pretty damn good, so is build quality. If I compare my second hand dumpster PC E15G4 to my gfs work computers it is infinitely nicer to use as well as better built. And the newer E14 model
