Is anyone else having to hold off laptop purchases?
Lenovo prices went up about 25% since January but we still need to replace ~25% of our laptops this year. (4 year warranty so laptops last 4 years before they're sold). That 25% made our T14s build more expensive than our "premium" Apple MacBook Air M5 build. We ended up going for the Ultra5 chip in

I need a laptop for offshore work
Where's home? If you're living/buying from the USA, cross-shop Dell and HP, they're usually cheaper for similar/better build quality and often newer generations of hardware incl. better batteries. (And further: Because ThinkPads are an influencer meme many models simply cost up to 2x more than equiv

used thinkpad buying advice please !
If you're willing to look at other business machines, check out Dell Latitudes. $250 gets you a Latitude 5440 with an intel 13th gen cpu. (vs. 11th gen for T14 Gen2) with 16gb/256gb. (The mid-point CPU in Intel 13th gen is as fast as the top CPU on the AMD side for the T14 Gen2 AMD. (whereas you're

Confused with almost this terminology. Help me
A thing I like to do is pick a processor from the middle of any given generation that'll likely be stock in a lot of different SKUs and see what shows up: Thinkpad 1145g7 for sale | eBay as an example. If you find a specific model that seems like it meets needs, for example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/i

Sweet spot right now in 2026?
In the US, your money goes further with Dells, but 500 is to the point where you can get almost anything you want. The US market is globally unique but there are some common aspects. The low point globally seems to be about five years, whereas US businesses can be seen running machines for just two

Help with consideration
Gotcha, so that's roughly what I suspected with 12th gen. Those chips are just on the inner edge of four years old and so globally especially they aren't quite at the mass selloff and leases ending phase. Just as a heads up, based on some things you are now saying: ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 (Intel) has hal

L14 Gen4 vs T14s Gen3 purchase advice
Avoid the T14s, I agree with the other poster, it could be hiding other issues. Assuming the L14 is fitted with the most basic IPS display, it's weak. A not very bright 250 nits, 45% NTSC 1920x1080 16:9 display (not 1920x1200), red looks closer to orange, and L14 displays often grainy, and lower qua

Hot take: upgradeability is one of the most underrated laptop specs
Dell Latitudes and Dell Pro series are generally decent on this, at least for the ~bottom half of the lineup. Part of the struggle these days is that there's genuine performance benefits to on-package memory, so with certain computer models (ThinkPad T14 Gen 6 (Intel) comes to mind specifically) if

Should I cancel my order?
I think for what you're trying to do, it's way overkill, but I'm not up to date on the newer offerings. I picked up a ToughBook G2 earlier this year with a Core Ultra 5 135U, and the battery lasts a long time, despite AI cores. Can't say the same for the ThinkPad T14 G2 (Ryzen) that I'm typing on. N
