Happened to my T490, T15 gen2, P51, P52 then BIOS updated EXACTLY five years after the laptop's market announcement. Fixed with setting "Adaptive thermal management" from "Maximum performance" to "Balanced" Also all the mentioned laptops began thermal throttling at 60-70C after that BIOS update (if

Most probably yes. Once laptops start doing glitches after the BIOS update, it is almost always a death sentence.
