WTF is this trade in value counter

Honestly, I think it's fair. Hear me out. The P50 is a great laptop and obv worth way more than $16. That said, it's a nearly 10 year old laptop, what can Lenovo even do with it? They can sell 2-3 year old refurbished laptops but for something that's not even W11 compatible there's nothing they can

Any issues running Mint on a Thinkpad P50/P53 (advice please)

ThinkPads are generally considered to be goated in regards to Linux support. Mint should be perfectly fine because it's based on Ubuntu, and Canonical works with Lenovo to validate hardware compatibility. Don't know about specifically P50/P53, but they're usually good.

Thinkpad P51 in 2025

Depends... Still strong and reliable machine... Uogradeable and easy fixable... Majority of components (if not all of them) are shared with P50 so plenty of (cheap) spares for the years to come only drwaback is the lack of official W11 support for 7820HQ CPU (only Dell and Microsoft's CPUs are appro

Goodmorning everyone, I want to run a Linux flavor on my older amd laptops (2019) but I want something that looks like windows 7 or similar.

It's not as repairable as older models due to the CPU being soldered (but that's on Intel, not Lenovo). With that said, it's still pretty repairable and upgradable. On my laptop, I've upgraded the RAM to 64GB (did this before RAM prices got stupid), and I've got three hard drives in it. I need to ge

Switch to linux

This probably isn't the best venue for this, might want to check a subreddit specifically for Linux or Linux_gaming. For what it's worth, Stalcraft and War Thunder have a Gold rating on ProtonDB. I would strongly suggest considering Linux Mint as it's the most straightforward out of the box, and it

is flexgate worth fixing?

Switch to thinkpads and install Linux on them if you are not forced to use a special Programm like Photoshop for your School. you learn more that way and can fix everthing by yourself. Apple is sadly a waste of money, google "apple *gate" there is a gate with every generation. i found your post for

I need help

Most probably yes. Once laptops start doing glitches after the BIOS update, it is almost always a death sentence. Rolling back BIOS wont, help cause some chips at the motherboard are being flashed together with the main BIOS and they won't go back. It is the planned obsolescence over the reliable ha

Looking to buy thinkpad P50, would it worth it?

For around ₹22,000 with those specs (i7-6820HQ, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Quadro M2000M), the ThinkPad P50 is still a capable machine in 2025, especially for programming and older game emulation. It should handle your computer science work and Android Studio without much trouble, as long as you're not ru
