Tried running LLMs locally to save API costs… ended up waiting 13 minutes for ONE response 🤡

It gave me enough time to go make coffee, drink it, and reconsider my life choices. 😅 Definitely not the 'optimized' experience I was hoping for. This is my spec. P14s Gen 6 - first use feels disappointing

However, when I got my P14s last week, boy I got disappointed. I traded off larger screen for better portability (apart from >60 Hz ofc) - but it ended up weighing 1.7 kgs, for a 14.5'' model. This kind of data is in PSREF: you may be deceived but that's on you for not checking the specs. powerful t

Linux Kernel 7.0

For me I noticed random freezes of applications and generally a choppy performance. Launching apps is noticeably slower. Especially Firefox and creating new tabs / loading pages constantly froze the browser for 10-30s. So far not the best experience (tested for ~11 days on a Lenovo P14s Gen 6 AMD).

Which of the 2 options?

For the ThinkPad? It's an older model. and you can find options with more processing power/newer for similar pricing. Examples: Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 5 Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 6

What’s all the hyper with the X1 Carbons

I’ve had an X1C for the last 4 years and recently switched to a P14s (gen 6). X1C is great from a size standpoint, incredibly light and durable. Performance wise, the standard configurations are slow. You really need to spec it up, but at that point it goes over $3K which is a joke. Build quality, b

ThinkPad P14s Gen 6 (Intel) - On Website! Release Date?

I considered the 6th gen AMD variant even with the lesser CPU. The performance is nerfed. It doesn't have adequate cooling. The AMD version has 1 fan and heat pipe while the Intel version has 2 fans and heat pipes and generally runs a LOT better, that's why I'm also considering the ThinkPad P14s Gen

EU/IT Linux Laptop, what to buy?

So sad there's no ThinkPad P14s Gen 6 w/ AMD (in the same intel chassis) What do you think of the following setup? processor: AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370, 64GB RAM no dedicated GPU SSD M.2 2230, Gen4, 256GB (will have to see at buy time if I can find a better one on amazon and just switch to it) 3 yea

[P16s G4 AMD] Unexpected power throttling

I am not sure about that, for two reasons: NoteBook check review of the P14s gen 6 AMD (basically the same machine) does not seem to suffer from the same issue. My benchmark scores are lower, and the reason is the no-sense throttling (every sensor is showing in-range temps). My previous P16s Gen 2 A
