I got tempted
T495s is not known for overheating, but CPU Power Management, enabled by default, can be overly aggressive, throttling the chipset, restricting its full capability. In T495s bios, go to Config, Power, and disable CPU Power Management, reboot, and test. Also check, laptop's ventilation slots, side an

Laptop for Computer Science
Grab a Lenovo with an i7 11th gen or higher with 16gb DDR4 ram and 1tb M.2 Storage. Models like the L14 are great and upgrading is easy. Or you can look into a the X1 Carbon Series. Amazing lightweight but powerful machines. (Only issue you can only upgrade it’s M.2 on most models)

is this a good idea ?
This system, ThinkPad L14 Gen 5 (Intel), is a fine computer. It's relatively new, I see few of these on the used market in the US so far. 16gb of ram and 256gb of SSD are fine starting places and they're also modular/replaceable on this model. The price seems basically fair.

Laptop recommendations
I am going to China for a few months and just built a pretty decent rig out of a thinkpad L14 gen 4. My home laptop is a lenovo yoga i9 as my main studio computer. It's too heavy and I dont want to loose or damage it, so I went with this lightweight thinkpad. I will say, the think pad will struggle

Thinking About Getting an E14 Gen 3
Varies by country, but reasonable for a 5 yr E14 G3, but you must verify the fitted display. E14 displays are not the best, and the G3 had 4 options all 16:9 FHD, a 250 nit TN panel, that's worth avoiding. The other 3, all IPS panels - 250 nit, or 300 nit 45% NTSC, or a superior 100% sRGB 300 nit. A

Qestion about l14 gen1
The Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 1 laptop can be configured to have two drives in some regions, but typically comes with a single storage slot that supports an M.2 SSD. The build quality is generally considered solid and durable for a business entry-level machine.

used thinkpad buying advice please !
If you're willing to look at other business machines, check out Dell Latitudes. $250 gets you a Latitude 5440 with an intel 13th gen cpu. (vs. 11th gen for T14 Gen2) with 16gb/256gb. (The mid-point CPU in Intel 13th gen is as fast as the top CPU on the AMD side for the T14 Gen2 AMD. (whereas you're

Suggest me a best value Thinkpad .
T480s or L14 , it’s very hard to choose, seems like T480s is like a legendery machine and L14 is modern ( only the build quality is compromised in L14 or anything else ?) L14 is a little more chunkier in build, may have cheaper materials and a slimmer feature set, but still presents potent value - c

Need a laptop for college, and i know basically nothing about laptops, please help with recommendations.
You would want something portable with decent battery life. So 14" screen, integrated graphics. Checking the Lenovo Outlet for good deals, came across this: https://www.lenovo.com/us/outletus/en/p/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpadl/lenovo-thinkpad-l14-gen-5-14-inch-amd/21l5003aus Even comes with the uplevel

Thinkpad E14 gen 3 or T14 gen 1?
An E14 G3 Ryzen 5, while newer, doesn't offer any real performance gain over a T14 G1 R5. Its connectivity is also poor, with 1 x USB-C 3.2 (also used for power), 1 x USB-A 3.2, 1 x USB-2.0, and HDMI 1.4b (4K 30Hz). It does offer dual NVMe drive support, not found on the T14, but I wouldn't pay more
