Linus Tech Tips - My Wife Needs a New Laptop June 29, 2026 at 09:59AM

I might be out of the loop, but does Linus have something against Lenovo that I missed? Didn't see any of their laptops mentioned at all, which is weird since keyboard quality/typing speed seemed to be important, so I'd imagine that would immediately bring Lenovo into the conversation. I just got a

Are we screwed?

The vast majority of laptops are not OLED. Even many high end ones. Look at the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition. Has a high resolution LCD screen than many think looks as good, if not better, than an OLED. It's an outstanding laptop all around.

Why no one mentions the ZenBook 14 OLED?

because there's better options on the market. No? I did some research before I chose the Zenbook, everyone else had compromises. The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition has a brighter screen, but the Core 7 258V, which is much less powerful. The Vivobook S14 had only a 60hz refresh rate and it was only

Most MacBook-like Windows computer

The Surface Laptop has the highest build quality and is the most MacBook like. But don’t get the one with the Snapdragon processor because it has compatibility issues even now in October 2025 and random crashes. The one they sell for business is great but it’s usually out of stock. Other than that,

Which Windows version to get?

I'd say it's pretty good for home use and even programming to an extent (I don't really dabble much into it but the 12 cores on the X Elite are great for compiling stuff fairly quickly) but also definitely compromised for other stuff like gaming or just overall messing with atypical software. Batter

An efficient x86 laptop

That's really weird. Lunar Lake chips usually have pretty good battery. It might be other factors like the 2.8K 120Hz screen or being in a high-performance mode that could be draining the battery or it's just because it does have a pretty small either 48 or 53Wh battery. If you want something with g
