How to choose monitors
Why is it pointless trying them out in a shop? Yes, they'll sound different to in your room but you can still compare between them. Years ago I went to buy some of the original KRK Rokits, looking at probably the 5s. He suggested I listen to them with the 6s, and I bought the 6s on the spot as they

New Monitor Speakers
Those Behringers are decent for the price but you might want to check out the KRK Rokit 5s or Yamaha HS5s instead - they're pretty much the gold standard for bedroom producers and synth setups. The KRKs especially have that low end punch you're looking for without being too muddy, and they won't bre

Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX3 Standalone DJ Controller + DM-40D Speaker
i ran into this same spot last year. the rx3 is great but overkill for a first deck honestly. the XDJ-RR goes for around £1,000 and still gives you standalone rekordbox prep. another solid move is finding a used XDJ-RX2 - people upgrade and sell them all the time. for speakers the DM-40D are fine bu

52yr old virgin in terms of using decks/mixing or equipment.
kinda jealous of your music taste tbh. for starting out i'd look at the Pioneer DDJ-FLX6 - it's got the big jog wheels and a layout that feels close to club gear without the crazy price tag. runs with rekordbox which is what most venues use. for speakers the KRK Rokits are solid for bass-heavy stuff

Disappointed by KRK Rokit RP5 G5 monitor in comparison to old ADAM AUDIO F5
Hey buddy! Sorry I'm late, but this post is actually great :) Trough the all history of existence KRK Rokit line sound monitors, the professionals of sound engineering industry often scolded them for their overly "colored" sound (strong basses and pugnacious tops), which made them not really suitabl

Best subwoofer for Techno in a home studio setup?
Gotta admit.. I truly love my KRK Rokit 6s and 10s. Won't say they are the top of the tops.. but they move dishes in my neighbors house.

My "do it all" setup :)
My setup is quite similar to the one shown in this comment picture. I've owned KRK Rokit 5 Gens 3's for 12 years without a subwoofer, and when I finally bought the S8.4 last month I was genuinely blown away. I was missing on A LOT of bass and sub info, which is to be expected by the small Rokit 5s.

Studio Speakers
JBL 305P or 306P for solid low end or the KRK Rokit G4 if you want more bassy character and built in EQ, avoid the HS5 unless you plan to add a sub or bigger woofers and treat the room.

Hi, i wanna buy my bf some speakers, hes sent me the edifier mr4 and i thought those were great but hes a bit of a basshead and i read that those dont have the best bass, any recommendations that are on that price level?
If he’s a bass head I’d try to steer away from studio monitors. Monitors are generally tuned to some level of neutral. A flat frequency response is often preferred by producers for mixing and studio work but isn’t always super enjoyable for casual music listening. However, KRK is known to be a prett
