Bitter Sweet
Amazon's real market advantage is the near monopoly they have on content. They lock a lot of authors into exclusive agreements. KOReader will breath new life into your kindle. It has no store, which I see as a plus because I don't get suggestions, etc. Everything is sideloaded using Calibre. I repla

Just got my first Kobo - kind of regretting it after years with Kindle
I switched from Kindle Oasis to Kobo Libra Colour and will try to answer some of your questions. You can change the screen zones from the settings, I can't remember what the default was but I have the whole middle part for the menus not just the bottom of the screen, and you can drag from the top to

Anyone else using color e-reader only to read novels? Just because you wanna see the cover in color?
Me. I have a kobo libra colour as my only working e reader and so far only read novels on it. Love the colour covers.

Leaving Kindle, advice for new e-reader
Why ask ChatGPT about it? It can’t tell you anything your own research won’t conclude. AI complaint aside, I personally have a Kobo Libra Colour and I love it. I picked it because it has buttons, a good amount of storage, and a good size screen. I use it for manga and ebooks. It’s easy to sideload c

Why are B/W button devices dying out?
Boox Go7 B&W is a really super device. Maybe nobody wants to compete? 😁 All Pocketbook (except Verse Lite) have buttons. Verse, Verse Pro, Inkpad 4, Era. On paper the Kobo Libra Colour, The Boox Go7 Colour, and the colour PocketBooks do black & white as well as a dedicated B&W reader (300ppi) so it'

Amazon to end support for older Kindles, prompting user outcry
I went from a Kindle Oasis and Paperwhite to a Kobo Libra Colour, and I love it. The color isn't anything amazing, but I really enjoy reading on it and it's big enough that I can read comics (though I do sometimes have to zoom in). i think the text on the Kobo Clara Colour would be too small for com

Kobo v kindle
Which kobos or kindles are you looking at? Kobo clara bw isn't much expensive than the kindle basic and it's also waterproof and has warm light which the basic doesn't have, so you're getting extra features. Kobo Libra Colour is cheaper than the kindle colorsoft and it has buttons which are absent i

Companion eReader?
I really like my Kobo Libra Color. If you only read books and don’t care about color then the Kobo Clara BW is fantastic.

To those of you who have 2 e-readers, why do you keep both and what do you use each one for?
I have an ancient kindle paperwhite from 2016 ("it's been eighty-four years...") that is beat to shit but still works perfectly. The battery life is still great and I have a huge library on it. I jailbroke it last year and haven since been using KoReader as the primary software and managing my libra

Kobo vs Kindle, the anti-Amazon headlines filled me with prejudice against Kindles — until I got one.
You should try popping books to your Kobo Libra Colour through Dropbox. Even faster than using Send-to-Kindle, there's no conversion step in between. Screen-wise, it's not quite fair to compare color e-ink to BW e-ink. The latter is always going to be sharper. I'd be willing to bet my Kobo Sage is e
