I want to love it I really do.
FYI - I have tried 3 different color ereaders (kobo Clara, kindle colorsoft, and boox) and at this point in the color eink technology, the darker screen is the standard. Just food for thought in case you were thinking it is a kobo specific issue 🫶

Kobo Libra Colour compared to Kindle Paperwhite 4 (2018)
You can't compare a BW screen with color screen. Everyone knows that e-ink color screens have worse contrast and detail than BW screens. The Kobo Clara BW has the latest and best BW screen, it's even better than that Kindle.

Which reader would you choose?
I started my Kobo journey with a Clara BW last year and bought a KLC this year. The plan was to use the Clara for travel because of its smaller size and the KLC at home. But I am now considering selling the KLC because I barely use it - the Clara alone fits all my needs. I only read novels so don’t

Ditching your Kindle? Kobo is Canadian
Hah just ordered a Kobo Clara Colour yesterday!! Going to save so much $$$ borrowing library books instead of buying kindle books. The prices were getting ridiculous anyway. Like $17-18 for a novel that I can’t even hand to a friend after.

Anyway to remove Kobo store upsells from home page?
Yes, you can remove it with kobopatch (the specific patch is 'Remove footer (row3) on new home screen', though there's also one that increases the size of the covers, too) Edit: I've since updated both of my Kobos (Libra Colour and Clara BW P365) to the newest firmware (4.44.23552) and can confirm t

Just didn’t work out :(
I recently brought a Clara kobo BW after having a kindle and it’s not the same. I loved my kindle but the battery wasn’t working anymore. I think the kobo is great and so much easier to unload books because it takes on the epub format. Also I brought the BW because personally I don’t see the appeal

I wish Kobo would release a new BW device
The issue with the BW vs color screens is so interesting to me. It's so subjective. After a period of adjustment I had no issue with my Kobo color devices outdoors. It did take some getting used to in that it was different. A year in, I can say that I now prefer the color screens to my BW Clara. Pro

Best EPUB reader to go with Calibre
I've been happy with the Kobo Libra and Calibre. That model is no longer available; it was replaced by the color verison. If you don't need the side buttons and don't want color, the Kobo Clara would be a good choice.

Help with kobo
Repairable, but parts are not cheap and you need to be pretty competent. Your device will no longer be waterproof. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Kobo+Clara+Colour+Screen+Replacement/170875 Please get a proper case with a protective screen flap.
