Kindle Oasis

They discontinued the oasis and it makes me so sad, my screen broke and I can’t get a new one. But speaking to the point of this thread, when my Oasis kindle broke (RIP), I pulled out my old kindle (probably paperwhite?) that I bought in 2019 and it still works perfectly. I use it every day.

there is no solution for 5.18.6. You can try using the PC application or get an older kindle (Oasis, PW or kindle 10th gen or lower), that Amazon is not updating firmware anymore and use Calibre and plugins as you described.

I have the kindle oasis and the kobo libra colour and ghosting on both is within the usual for e-ink.

i ran into this exact choice last month. for dictionary lookups Kobo wins hands down - you can install custom dictionaries and it handles multiple languages smoothly. Kindle Oasis is fine but more locked down. PDFs on both are meh but Kobo handles sideloading better without jailbreak. the screen on
