PSA: don't routinely update your keyboard firmware.

I updated the firmware on my Q9 (ISO Knob wired only) board - it is no longer recognized by Keychron Launcher. It only works with VIA web app now. Older firmware is not available to download. Sigh. On the other hand, updating firmware on my two Q6 and one Q3 boards (all ISO Knob wired only) worked w

Green card thing under pcb?

What is "q9 plus"? Just Q9? OK, here is the Q9 Plus user manual. But where is the product page? At least it also seems to be wired-only like the original Q9.

idk if I am stupid but what is the default way to type a hyphen on the Q9?

A workaround: DIY key mapping Where do you expect it to be? For a Swiss keyboard (and many other European keyboard layouts), the key for hyphen is three keys to the right of "M" , and the keycode is "KC_SLSH" (because the keycodes are named after the effect if the keyboard layout in the operating sy

Keyboard recommendations

Meh, every keyboard has its issues. I like to get a long warranty for any keyboards that feel pricey or risky so I know I'm covered. Amazon and eBay both offer them and they're affordable. I havent had any issues with the Q or V keyboards from keychron. I have a Q1, Q9, and V7 (which is my favorite

How to remap keyboard and screen brightness keys for Windows

Re "...bound properly on the Keychron website": What exact did you do? What keycodes/key names were bound to which keys on which layers? Help us helping you. ("Keychron website" probably refers to the Via clone.) Note the layers (does not apply for the extremely crippled keyboards, like the Q9): Lay

Question about mapping the play/pause button on a Q6

The keycode is KC_MPLY (an alias of KC_MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE). Via, and probably the Via clone, only accepts the alias. The keycode can be entered using 'Any'. There is an equivalent using the UI (in Via, KEYMAP → MEDIA → Play (the 4th item)). In the Via clone, 'Any' is in tab "Custom" (sixth tab), last item

Is it worth getting a mechanical keyboard in 2025?

I’ll second that suggestion. I am a keyboard modder and own multiple keyboards. If you are just going down the rabbit hole of keebs, definitely check out the Keychron K2 HE. It looks gorgeous, feels absolutely delicious and sounds heavenly when you type on it. It is definitely worth the price, but w
