I reset the XIO soundbar, but that didn’t solve the issue by itself. The KW2 was still blinking cyan/white and would not pair normally. The XIO eventually went into idle mode, and after that I lost the KW2 sync again. I tried the same “workaround” as before — launching the KW2 firmware update from KEF Connect — but this time it did not bring the sync back.
