The point of diminishing returs

The Diablos are amazing... Yet Steve Huff, who uses them as his reference speakers, out right said - while testing the KEF R3 Meta:"Did I miss my Focal Diablos while the R3 Meta were in? Well, maybe on a couple of nights but in reality I did not."AND"These speakers sound AMAZING with vinyl, at least

Impression of KEF Q7 Meta

KEFs are worth their Price Point. I have R3 Meta for my TT 2-Channel setup and they are great. Paired with REL/9x.

After a month of waiting, new speaker day. Ascilab C6B with wiim amp ultra

I don’t think I would call these midrange. These replaced a pair of vintage klipsch La Scalas for me. They are great speakers and they punch above their weight. My favorite thing is the midrange and high end is very clean and smooth. I thought I would miss something in dynamics but don’t miss it. Th

R3M vs R5M

I have pretty extensive experience with both the R3 and R5, and despite their minor differences on the spec sheet, I've concluded that for real world use, they are effectively the same speaker in different form factors. The R3 is a beefy bookshelf speaker and the R5 is a small, skinny tower. Just pi

Complete novice - is it worth it?

Digital has less distortion. Streaming is just easier than cds. Tidal and quoboz are just as cheap as spotify and you get lossless audio. You could start with just a phone, 20 dollar dac dongle, and a pair of 100 dollar iems. I sometimes think about getting into vinyl, but when I start looking for l

Help Me Choose My Speakers Please (My First Hi Fi Setup)

I would throw into the mix the KEF R3 Meta. Made in UK, measure VERY well, sound lovely (I use them with a little higher end setup than your own and love them) , and a grand under your budget. You can buy more records with the difference

Sound of Kef Reference 1 Meta vs Kev Reference 3 Meta

Try Hegel h400 for amp. Auditioned my R3 with this and other speakers. It is also what KEF uses to demo at shows. R3 are plenty for me in a similar size open floor plan space. My living room opens to kitchen and hallway. R3 Meta available for $1500 used R3 for $999.

New system, how did I do?

Solid choices across the board. The R3 Metas and REL pairing is genuinely one of the better value plays in that segment right now. KEF's meta material tweeter handles the top end cleanly without ever getting harsh, and the REL fills in the low shelf in a way that sounds integrated rather than bolted

Do you remeber the first time you heard stereo with speakers?

its so interesting how different our experiences are. in my family nobody understands why i am paying much for speakers. they even heard my system with the kef r3 metas and dual rel subs properly set up with good roomtreatment and they dont seem to care. and for me one of the most important thing is

Experiencing brightness/harshness with buckeye purifi amp and node icon

SMSL SU-1 was the go-to cheap option to try out AKM or finish a cheap secondary system, but I think they may have gone up in price. I have seen used Geshelli Labs J2's go for less than $200 also, and those are almost always well recieved. If you find the AKM DACs in the price range you want, you can
