Chasing the "childhood" reference sound for 20 years - finally got it when all the hope was lost. Anyone had same phenomena? If so - Let's try to debunk myths and reality.

My mom's bog standard 80s Hitachi amp with 90s paradigm speakers sounds better than my system with KEF R3 Metas. Could be the room it was in.

Speaker Shopping - Day 4

I spent about a year switching off between the KEF R3 Meta and Philharmonic BMR Monitors in my 2.2 setup. There were aspects of both I liked. I ultimately ended up selling the KEFs and keeping the Philharmonics though. Which Philharmonics do you intend to get? The Monitors, Towers, or HT Towers?

New speaker day

Multi-state move + I knew they would be too big to really work in this space. Found a killer deal on the SourcePoint’s + Kanto stands, and I’ve always been intrigued by Andrew Jones designs so figured I’d give these a go. I thought I’d end up with R3 Metas, which I did like best among all the KEF sp

Speakers that produce room filing sound that is enjoyable even off-axis

Ohm Walsh , Mirage ( now extinct). Several people recommended KEF but even KEF doesn’t work as well as Ohm walsh in terms of sweet spot and instrument separation when you’re closer to the speakers. KEF was great when you sat at a considerable distance from the speakers. I am saying this having perso

Denafrips Enyo 15th

I have different experience. I had Enyo 15th for a few days connected to Hegel H120 -> KEF R3 Meta and I was dissapointed. It was more smooth and had deeper soundstage but it sacrificed a lot of details and dynamic comparing to Hegel DAC. It was just boring. I do like much more Mojo 2 as a DAC which

KEF R11 Meta - Don't Understand the Hype

I find the KEF R series to be good, but quite overhyped on the forums, usually because of their good measurements. They resolve to a point, and then you would have to go upstream, KEF or otherwise. I had the R3 Meta in house for a little, and they just couldn't hold their own against my (then) curre

Unpopular Opinion: Has the idea of "Blind Tests" become the real Snake Oil?

Also when it comes to these tests, apart from the amount of time and familiarity of material being tested, the actual listening skill of participants are unknown. There's a post in another sub complaining that the KEF R3 Meta sounds identical to the Klipsch RP500 even after level matching them. If y

My Audio System Stress Test Playlist.

This resonated with me. I have a pair of KEF R3 Metas in my bedroom driven by an integrated Rotel amp, with two SVS SB-3000 subs. That is a solid, albeit entry-level system, on paper. The speakers get reviewed as being accurate, and the integrated amp. as "neutral-to-clean." I'm not sure I "love" th

Amp recommendation for kef r3 meta (please read the details) is

Yes. NAD m23 gives lots of power and headroom. I connected Evo150 to this power amp. But not so much difference in sound quality. I have changed from KEF r3 meta to Wharfedale super linton. Oh god. Night and day difference to my taste.

KEF R11 Meta - Don't Understand the Hype

When you mention "(close)" after the example speakers, what is that referring to precisely? I had KEF R3 Meta until last October and now have Sonus Faber Sonetto VIII (G1) and it's been a night and day difference in all metrics I can reasonably recall. My situation with the KEF was similar where mor
