Q3 vs Concerto
Look at the estimated in-room response of your Q3 Metas (courtesy of EAC). You will see them roll off smoothly from ~100 to 60Hz, with a shelf from ~60 to 45Hz, then a knee, and a steep drop-off below that. This kind of bass tuning allows the speakers to be placed closer to the wall, where the bound

LSX ii LT or Q3 Meta with Wiim amp pro?
Q3 meta’s and wiim all the way. I love KEF, I’ve had 6 pairs over the last few years… I can only sing their praises across the board. I just see so many people talking about issues with active speakers and subs. Just from a reliability stance I reckon you steer clear of the LSX’s. The Q3’s have a bi

Thinking about upgrading my Q3 meta
OP - you can the COMPARE function at spinorama.org to put all of these speakers head to head in terms of measured performance and predicted in room response. if you do - you will see a slight improvement in linearity stepping from the Q3 to Concerto, and a significant improvement in bass extension b

KEF purchase (or not)?
You're right. All KEF speakers need 4-ohm stable amplification, and any that rely solely on a single Uni-Q driver for full-range (Q150/Q1 Meta, Q350/Q3 Meta, LS50/LS50 Meta) for anything other than nearfield listening must be used with a subwoofer and high-passed to protect them from low frequencies

Speaker and amp recommendations
There aren’t many floor standing speakers at 1k€. From some/many brands you can’t even get their cheapest models for that. Take for example KEF — their cheapest floor standing speakers (Q7 Meta) are 1600€ for a pair. You also need to figure in that usually floor standing models are 1.6x to 2x times

KEF Q3 Meta + Yamaha AS501
Your KEF Q3 Metas drop as low as 3.2 ohms across a range of frequencies, and really need to be protected by a high-pass filter, while augmenting them with a subwoofer. Neither the Yamaha A-S501 nor the A-S701 has a high-pass filter or any form of bass management. They are also 12 years old on their

Thinking of upgrading to KEF
I personally think your money would be better spent on a subwoofer, and just don’t turn it up loud enough to annoy people. But yes, the q3 meta pair should give you more bass across the board If you have the cash however, the Q Concerto Meta pair will be an upgrade in every way including bass

What to choose: premium bookshelf or standard floorspeaker (from Fyne Audio)??
I dont think that you can compare a $2.2k bookshelf speaker (500SP) with a floorstander that costs $1.4k of the same brand, the Fyne Audio F501S should be the same lvl as the 500SP but a floorstander, it almost have the same price at $2.3k. I've been eyeing the Fyne Audio F501E myself but the local

KEF Q1 Meta vs Q350
I think "max SPL" just means power handling before the speaker is damaged. Both speakers will have significant bass compression and distortion long before that point. Erin's Audio Corner does compression measurements, but he hasn't tested the Q350 or Q1. Here's the Q150:https://dl.dropboxusercontent
