Yeah that’s the way to go. My main system is Wiim Amp + KEF Q Concerto Meta and I can just press play as well. IMO no point getting high end equipment if the gets in the way of me enjoying music. Rather have a simple to use hi-fi system.

Room treatment as others have said, also calibrated measurement mic + REW so you can EQ your speakers and sub to perfection. If that doesn't scratch the itch and you like the sound of Kefs I'd be looking out for deals on Kef R series speakers or something like the Q Concerto Meta or Q7/Q11 Meta.
