KEF LS50w2 with a KC62 sub

I've the same colour except my Kefs are the wired LS50 METAs. Cracking set up and look great in white IMO

Looking for bookshelf speakers for Hegel H90

KEF LS50 Metas for near field listening are phenomenal. You will likely want to add a sub as they roll off early. Would pair very nicely w the H90. The KEF will give you a critical, detailed listening experience. The Ascend recommended above are going to be deeper, with wider dispersion. The KEF are

My little setup

I've been very impressed with my Oberon 3s. I "downgraded" from KEF LS50 Metas and a KC62 sub to just the Oberons and the reality is that the wide dispersion and generous bass response of the speakers alone are just way more enjoyable for my typical ambient, off-axis listening. On-axis midfield list

KEF LS50 Meta's or B&W 607 s3's or Dali Oberon 1's ??

I don't know what price point you're looking at for these options, and admittedly they are a bit all over the place when at MSRP so aren't easily comparable. B&W's house sound emphasizes the top end. Some find that fatiguing after an hour or two of listening. DALI is an energetic sound, a little bum

KEF purchase (or not)?

You're right. All KEF speakers need 4-ohm stable amplification, and any that rely solely on a single Uni-Q driver for full-range (Q150/Q1 Meta, Q350/Q3 Meta, LS50/LS50 Meta) for anything other than nearfield listening must be used with a subwoofer and high-passed to protect them from low frequencies

My zen station. Slowly evolved over many years of collecting parts

Just wanted to say that the main reason you want to add a sub, is not just for extra rumble, but so that you’re clearing up the mids and highs as the lower frequencies are shifted from the LSX’s to the sub. In saying that - I’ve heard the LSX II’s firsthand and agree with you that in a nearfield set

Desktop speaker choice

If this is mostly nearfield / desk listening and you’ve only got 10–20 cm from the rear wall, I’d prioritise controlled bass and good off-axis behaviour over sheer scale. Quick thoughts on your list: KEF LS50 Meta – excellent imaging and midrange, but they’re not ideal that close to a wall without s

LSX II LT or LS 50 Meta?

I have to let someone else give you a definitive answer on the bass. Reason is the wireless/powered versions of the LS50 include some bass and treble DSP compensation, which you won’t have. I use a slight bit to compensate bass for boundary conditions. So not a fair comparison. However, I can say th

R3 Meta vs Ls50 Meta + KC62

If the Q7 Metas sounded boomy, it was not because of your room size; it was because of the speaker positioning relative to boundaries and the bass port. The LS50 Metas have greater positioning versatility thanks to their compact size (also true of the KC62), and since you'll be plugging their ports,
