I don't believe it's quite so black and white as some suggest. At the lower end of the market, powered speakers are unbeatable in terms of price vs performance. You just can't buy a good stereo amp and a pair of passive speakers new for $150 that's really going to challenge a pair of Edifier R1280T

I’m a big fan of KEF Wireless speaker systems. You only need source components! NO NEED to buy amps or preamps! Do you have/want a turntable? If not, take a look at the LSX IIs or even the LS50 Wireless II (the bonus of not spending on electronics!) I have LSX v1 and KUBE 10b sub. Great little speak

Does not show the cables, I can't find an image that does. Turntable wired directly to powered speakers needing no other box. RCA stereo cables and two mains leads and a signal cable from primary to secondary speaker. Includes phono stage, DAC, Bluetooth, pre-amp and power amp. I like the retro look
