What's my next upgrade that makes the most sense
Speakers, with a caveat. Your JBLs are nearfield monitors. If you do all of your music listening sat at a desk then for the money, these aren't bad. There's a bit of a hump in the midrange, but otherwise they're fairly neutral. Being nearfield monitors makes it more difficult to create that 3D sound

Is this a reasonable first set-up?
Kali Audio MM-6 are what I’m rocking now and I’m very happy with the value proposition. Insanely good for 400 a pair.

What’s everyone’s favorite speakers?
iLoud Micro Monitors/Micro Monitors Pro, iLoud MTM MK1/MK2, Kali Audio LP-UNF, Kali Audio LP-INF, ADAM D3V.
