ProtonMail payment data reportedly used by FBI to unmask anonymous Stop Cop City account

Disclaimer: This is not meant to be victim blaming, I think what happened to the person here is terrible. This was an opsec mistake, Proton Mail gives you the option to pay via cash by mail, if you know you're an activist who could be targeted, make use of that option. Your IP address could still le

(TW: graphic) U.S. passport revoked for trans asylum seeker fleeing violence

One of the most disturbing stories I have ever read. I'm happy she's safe now. Y'all need to learn how to do privacy now. https://tools.techlore.tech https://www.privacyguides.org/en/tools Those same sites have some educational info as well. Privacy Guides makes it a lot easier to find that for them

Degoogle planning, looking for recommendations

For VPN, only Mullvad, IVPN and Proton are trustworthy. From what I found, your device isn't officially supported by something like LineageOS, probably because it is newer. Unfortunately, we'll all be fucked after September because of the dev verification. It is irrelevant on which ROM you are at th

VPNs if you want to swtich from Proton or Mullvad

IVPN is the likely option. It's in the same top-level option alongside Mullvad / Proton. After that, I don't know. Is Windscribe better than Nord/Surfshark for example? I agree on NYM. It's a new take on things. I've also been looking into vpn.net but, both NYM / VPNnet feel untested. I'm not smart

For those thinking of switching to Mullvad from Proton after the recent controversy, you might want to read this

To make it easier to read, I'm just roughly quoting most of the article in English: "Mullvad's founder Daniel Berntsson was the one behind the donation to the populist Örebro Party, which supports 'comprehensive remigration.' 'It is sad that it is necessary,' Berntsson told Flammen." "5 million [SEK

Why is proton so hated now

I already hated them after the scandal with protonmail years ago. Glad I didn’t get sucked into their whole ecosystem. I prefer Tuta, IVPN, Mega Cloud storage, KeepassXC, and LibreOffice as an alternative to all their platforms.

Why is proton so hated now

Girl, I got bad news for you about Mullvad. Their co-CEO personally donated 5 million SEK to a far-right party in Sweden. Info came out about it on Friday, but the short of it is that he single-handedly financed 72% of their income last year, which enabled them to push for the national parliament th

For those thinking of switching to Mullvad from Proton after the recent controversy, you might want to read this

They seem most similar to BSW (in Germany), or George Galloway's party in the UK, but the distinction between Nazbols and Nazis is academic. I've seen Privacy Guides recommend Mailbox, despite not having zero-access encryption. They still might be worth checking out. Their UX is far from Proton's, b

Not great to see the amount of rhetorical gymnastics all over these comments attempting to position a party that wants mass deportations of immigrants as just normal mainstream guys. Anyway, I can recommend IVPN (the third VPN provider that gets a Privacy Guides recommendation). Maybe tomorrow some

ProtonMail payment data reportedly used by FBI to unmask anonymous Stop Cop City account

I am talking about two different things here, i.e. about two identifiers that could lead back to you: Your payment method, optimally it should be either cash by mail or Monero, as credit card / bank account / PayPal will lead back to you and identify you as the account owner, more specifically the p
