What studio monitors do you recommend these days?
u/scottbrio here. I've worked in a lot of studios and listened to a lot of different monitors. In my opinion, the best monitors for an indie producer in an untreated room are the IKMultiMedia iLoud Micro monitors. They're $299 new (cheaper used) and sound incredible. I've checked my mixes and master

What type of studio monitors or speakers should I buy for casual listening?
I would like to listen to the truest artist intended way but also would like to casually get into techno music production. So which speakers should I buy? Whichever you like. You can use a speaker with a colored sound (e.g. elevated treble) for music production, as long as you understand what colora

Are the LSX II LT travel friendly?
I wouldn’t travel with them. The IK Multimedia iLoud Micro would probably be ideal for your use case

Complete Noob… Somebody help me out.
Honestly, downvote me into oblivion, but I'm going to tell you the cheapest way to get the best sound out of Amplitube using my 20 years of experience with software/pedals/whatever. First you need to decide on an audio interface. Check these links: https://www.guitarworld.com/features/best-guitar-au

How the heck are people mastering their tracks? This is driving me insane.
Sumo’s tracks are already heavily compressed and processed in unnatural ways. If you’re serious about mastering pick up a copy of Bob Katz’s book “Mastering Audio”. It will take you more than a few minutes to read and understand. You need at the very least a good set of flat response monitors and a

Studio monitors sound thin compared to headphones
keep those- but ADD a sub. Either the Yamaha HS sub or an IK multimedia iLoud Sub. I have that one - it’s amazing.

Monitor Help..
Look at IK Multimedia's iLoud series. Highly underrated. These are their MTM MKIIs, but their micro monitor pros are excellent too: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/iloudmtm/?pkey=iloud-mtm-mk2-black-pair

Quality compact studio monitors(3~4 inch) as replacement for budget 5 inch monitors
I recently bought IK Multimedia's iLoud Micro and have been thoroughly impressed. Their size makes them look like those shitty multimedia monitors that people used 20 years ago. But their sound? They have no business sounding this good, this far into the low end. Of course they're not a replacement
