Iloud MTM or Genelec 8010 for 7.1.4

The Genelec 8010 is a pretty thin sounding monitor. Even with room correction bumping up the low end I don’t quite think they’ll be super pleasing without significant support from a sub. The iLouds on the other end have no problem getting down to below 40hz, again especially with corrective software

Studio Monitor Suggestions?

iLoud MTM MKIIs for a medium sized room, or the iLoud Micro Monitor Pros for a smaller room. I started with the Micro Monitors, and upgraded to the MTMs last year because of GAS, but I don’t regret it. They sound great out of the box, and can be further calibrated to your room using the included ARC

iLoud MTM MK2 vs Genelec 8010 — which for a small untreated room?

This is not a meaningful comparison. The Genelecs’ build quality is much better, with an enclosure made from aluminum and a high resale value even after years. But the 8010 model is designed as a size marvel first, sacrificing low end extension and SPL. The iLoud MTM can play much louder and lower a

Recommendations on portable monitors.

ILoud MTM are fantastic. Not the basic iLouds, but the MTM, either version. Insanely detailed and clear, shocking amount of clean bass and volume for the size. And they have a built in calibration system to tune to whatever room youre in

Speaker Question / Looking for Sound Quality

For overall good quality of sound, you can't beat a pair of Sony 7506 headphones. They're $100 and they'll give him good frequency response across the spectrum. They'll have far better bass than any (non-sub) ported monitor speaker (Ports tend to make bass muddy). Or a set of good in ear monitors (e

Monitor Speakers for Synth rig - Adam T7v?

Another speaker to potentially consider is the ILoud MTM. It has built in room correction and works down to 40 hz. Probably not as loud as the 7s if you’re going for volume, but probably more detailed.

D3V muffled low volume software issue - The company does not plan to fix it...

Thank you for posting this. I won't be buying the D3Vs then. I currently have the 1st gen iLoud MTM on my desktop and while they sound fantastic, they are dying and I need a replacement. I'm often listening to music at barely audiable, whisper low volume, late at night when someone is sleeping in th

Best Speaker for 4 Moog Synths

I love my iLoud MTM powered, calibrating monitors and use a cheapish, but decent mixer for my Moogs and digital audio interface. They have nice tight base for their size, but really depends on your tastes and what kind of sounds you are making. That's the thing about speakers, they are kind of like

My vision of a mini enthusiast set…

Haha, I actually thought about that. Since an iLoud MTM can reach an SPL of about 96 dB and goes down to around 40 Hz, a subwoofer might almost shake the house apart. The DSP‑tuned bass reflex already blasts my ears pretty well. The speakers are driven by a Schiit DAC over XLR, so it’s not that easy

too many conflicting desires- 12” or 15” single PA speaker for small room rehearsal?

Either way, a 15" bass combo amp will go down to 40hz, while a 15" Mackie Thump rolls off at 60. And the combo amp is smaller. Have you actually traced the circuit built into a PA top? I think they have a HPF to keep the lower frequencies out of the amp. And yes, as you say, some of them have a swit
