Headphone mixing versus room calibration/monitor mixing

Monitors and human hearing are a very subjective thing. I’ve mixed quality work in bad rooms and I’ve struggled with the low end in perfectly treated rooms. I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but I’m very impressed with the first gen iLoud micros. To me they’re the new NS10s. They’re ultra

Home studio monitors (budget)

If you monitor too loud you will create standing waves in your room which mask frequencies and you won’t be able to properly judge your mixes. Check out the iloud micro or KRK create or Kali Lp

HX Stomp desktop setup ideas

I’m doing something similar with the helix LT Guitar > Boss WL20 > Helix LT > iLoud Micro (monitors) Before I got the monitors I used the headphone out from the Helix to connect to the Aux in of whatever Bluetooth speaker I had lying around

Advice on this weird obsession with mixing

You could pretend this is the exact unpolished indie sound you were after, it doesn't sound bad. But I can see why you want to improve the situation. The lack of good monitoring causes the exact problem you describe, there's no other way around. It can sound ok-ish after some iterations and tweaks b

iLoud vs Adam Audio D3V vs NS10 and Mordaunt

a crap pair is an industry term for a "consumer type" monitor to reference a mix on in a worst case kind of way. basically the iLoud micro is slightly better fedelity than a high end Bluetooth speaker. if you can make it sound good on those, you're well along on your mix. btw, this is how the NS10 c

After 25 Years, I’m Retiring My Technics. Help Me Upgrade to the Future!

I have an XDJ-AZ and love it for the convenience and form factor. I use HD25 headphones and iLoud Micro Monitors which is a great compact and extensible system. If space and money were no object, I would add a Pioneer V10, 4 x CDJ3000, 2 Technics 1210 mk7 (or maybe Pioneer PLX-CRSS12), ATC SCM100ASL

Drop ur sounds settings Bois n gurls

Its an amazing tool, I want to get a few different amps and make new profiles for them as well. For measuring I really want to get a pair of iLoud Micro Monitor Pro, they come with a measuring mic and software to calibrate it. Only thing is they cost $700... Maybe someday.

Best Speakers that are Apartment Friendly?

The iLoud Micro Monitors are on sale for $250 on Amazon right now. They are primarily for near-field monitoring/mixing but work really well for a small group of people as you are describing. For example, I've used them to DJ for a group of 6 in a large hotel room and could not turn them up all the w

Affordable set-up for practicing mic technique?

You don’t need a full PA at home to work on mic technique. A small powered speaker like an Alto TS308 or even an iLoud Micro Monitor will get you close enough to the open mic vibe without spending crazy money. Plug your mic into a cheap audio interface and run something simple like GarageBand or Log

Advice on super compact desktop speakers?

Wow !thanks for these. Harmon Kardon sticks are a throwback for sure. Forgot about those! Not a huge fan of needing a big separate bass unit. But the iLoud Micro Monitors look really interesting. I’ll check those out.
