Yes they have to be powered. For something small that sounds good, I like IK Multimedia iLoud Micro Monitor. You'd need cables that are 1/4" on one side and RCA on the other (or adapters).

Below 80hz, bass is almost exclusively omnidirectional. So I would want to minimize those lower bass frequencies inside the wardrobe. So I would go for the iloud Micromonitors as they won't put out a lot of lower end bass. But they are front ported (definitely don't want rear ports inside the wardro
