Advice on travel router
GL.inet travel router. Under $50 here in Canada https://www.amazon.ca/GL-iNet-GL-SFT1200-Secure-Travel-Router/dp/B09N72FMH5/ They have fancier versions but this works good enough for me. I also travel with an Android stick so you just need to connect the travel router to the hotel's wifi or plug it

Streaming Service on Private Aircraft
This is really quite simple with your own self-hosted VPN and about $70 worth of gear. I use a similar setup for streaming service and although not in an aircraft, I travel with Starlink and face the same issues. The GLi.Net routers have a very easy to use interface for creating both a VPN server fo

Is this just how it is?
It's not as bad or expensive as you think to get it working well with the portal. I went with a dedicated router before I upgraded my home network to a wifi mesh with a wired backhaul. All I needed was an inexpensive travel router, I got the GL.iNet GL-SFT1200 off Amazon for around 40 bucks and it s

Wifi. To make the wife happy
You'd probably be best off with some kind of Wifi-to-Ethernet adapter. I'd recommend the GL.iNet Opal (GL-SFT1200) to do this job. I used its younger sibling (Mango) for a long time to connect an RJ45-only device to my WiFi network. To the best of my knowledge, you won't be able to add any kind of W
