Help choosing home router

As much as I love Unifi I would probably suggest a GL-iNet Flint 2 or Flint 3 for friends and family that don't need a full Unifi stack. They run on Openwrt and the hardware is pretty good, and they're more affordable than Ubiquiti. The only real benefit I can see for setting up friends or family wi

What routers can you configure without an app?

I believe most of them still have web ui available for configuring settings. Some of them make it a pain to do initial setup without an app though, for example my last Netgear Nighthawk you could set it up from the we ui but they were strongly pushing you to do it with the app and it was a pain to b

WiFi version 7 pricing what is going on?

GL.iNet Flint 3 is a fantastic wifi 7 router at $200. Just bought one, very happy with it. The range is huge and the firmware / software on it is feature rich, includes Adguard Home, just toggle the switch. None of those annoying subscriptions, just a great router.

Choosing between a Ubiquiti Dream Router 7 and a Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Max

If you're not planning on having multiple APs and you're not planning on doing a full Unifi stack where you're buying into the whole ecosystem then you might consider a GL-iNet Flint 3e instead, it's more affordable and consumer friendly while still giving you the option go go into the advanced UI a

What router should I get?

1000% the GL-iNet Flint 3. The software on most consumer routers makes me want to throw things, they are so locked down and useless. GL-inet uses openwrt with a nice skin on top of it. So, so, sooooo many features. Absolutely any weird network setup you want to do, the Flint 3 can do it. And it supp

Help applying SQM to Wireless Network

The Flint 2 has better capabilities in this regard. Wait for the OpenWrt Two (developed w/ GL.iNET) or get a Flint 2. I got into OpenWrt purely for streaming high bandwidth low latency and low jitter for games like CS2. My recommendations are: Wi-Fi card on the client matters. I would recommend Inte

Seeking Suggestions - Cheap WiFi Router for Home Use?

The Flint 2 is a great option if you know your way around networking. https://www.amazon.com/GL-iNet-GL-MT6000-Multi-Gig-Connectivity-WireGuard/dp/B0CP7S3117 It gives you tons of control since it's running the free and open source router OS, OpenWRT. And it's under $150, maybe less if you find one u

New router recommendations and understanding wifi 7

I would go with the GL-iNet Flint 3 over anything netgear or tp-stink offers and even over asus. It comes with open source firmware out of the box with a consumer friendly UI that gets you a lot of features while keeping things fairly simple but also allows you to go into the advanced options and ac

Looking for new router - wifi isn’t important.

GL-iNet Flint 2 if you're not worried about wifi, if you do want better wifi then look at the Flint 3. They both run a vendor fork of Openwrt and the full LuCi interface is available through the advanced menu. Or since you have a Unifi AP already get one of the cloud gateways, then you have one inte

What are the best routers that use OpenWRT?

It is a great device, but it most certainly does not run OpenWrt. It runs internally developed firmware based on OpenWrt. Here's the directory of OpenWrt-supported GL.iNet devices: https://openwrt.org/toh/gl.inet/start Flint 3 (officially, GL-BE9300) is not on it. Nor is it in the Firmware Selector.
