I'm looking for hardware suggestion for a router running OpenWrt
If the NanoPi R6S is too expensive/hard to find, you should seriously look at the GL.iNet Flint 2 (MT6000). Don't be fooled by the 'consumer router' shell. Inside, it has the MediaTek Filogic 830 (MT7986), which is a quad-core ARM A53 @ 2.0GHz. If you just want a wired router/firewall, you can simpl

Help choosing home router
As much as I love Unifi I would probably suggest a GL-iNet Flint 2 or Flint 3 for friends and family that don't need a full Unifi stack. They run on Openwrt and the hardware is pretty good, and they're more affordable than Ubiquiti. The only real benefit I can see for setting up friends or family wi

Good OpenWRT router in London, UK?
GL.iNet GL-MT6000 (Flint 2), it was £103 on Amazon on BF, gone back to normal price now, i think Aliexpress has them for little cheaper. I personally use a NanoPI R6S and its amazing piece of kit! 5W power, SQM at 1400Mbps

Do I really need to replace it?
Get a GL-iNet Flint 2 or Flint 3, get rid of that netgear garbage, they used to be decent but the current stuff sucks.

Router recommendation
This is over kill for your current needs but at $135 it's great and will serve well if you do need to expand a bit later. GL.iNet GL-MT6000 (Flint 2)

Can I Unifi it? Public wifi --> home wifi
Short answer, no. Long answer, kind of. Ubiquiti offers a few mobile routers that do allow for Wi-Fi repeating, but they only have WiFi 4 and also are more intended to be used with cellular connections. While not Ubiquiti, I would recommend you just get a GL-iNet router. The Flint 2 is one of their

Router Recommendations?
Ubiquiti if you can swing the cost, if you need a good budget option look into GL-iNet Flint 2 or 3, they're more budget friendly but offer a lot of the same features, they're also running on openwrt.

Router under $200?
Flint 2 at $136. https://www.amazon.com/GL-iNet-GL-MT6000-Multi-Gig-Connectivity-WireGuard/dp/B0CP7S3117 The Flint 3 is $34 more expensive, but Wifi 7 is only 10-20% faster and it has a weaker CPU. Yes, older devices can still connect to a 6E/7 signal. What ISP package do you pay for, and what modem
