which translate better ? Barefoot Footprint 01 vs Genelec 8040B

I haven't mixed on Barefoot, but I have on Genelec 8040 and found it misleading. My impression was that the two drivers don't integrate very well at nearfield distances, and because the monitors are so detailed they can clearly present a mix that lesser monitors would struggle with due to masking an

Underwhelmed by the performance of Amiga speakers

Thats good as the best stuff in diy isnt kits, its making your own boxes and doing active filtering. Not very difficult to filter a speaker with some dsp and you can use it for all future projects. A sig180 or comparable woofer with sb26adc and 3d printed somasonus waveguide are basically as good as

Added a JL Audio Dominion d108

Juno 60 what a great synth, that's a keeper. I actually just sold a pair of Genelec 8040B studio monitors and bought the JL sub, it's overall a better sound with the very musical bookshelf speakers imho.

Genelec 8040B vs Barefoot footprint03

I love the genelec 8331. I think the 8040 and the barefoot both make everything sound good which is fun but doesn’t lead to good mixes that translate. Amphion are awesome. Adam A8 are incredible mixing tools. And the Neumann kh120 are very honest as well

Sold my Event Opals - what now?

Are the 8341 radically different to 8030/8040’s? Asking as I didn’t like their character at all and took that for the Genelec sound Was never impressed with Dynaudios either tbh Regardless thank you for your input.

I need help choosing monitoring speakers!

A lot of monitor selection comes down to preference and how one listens. Ideally, you would audition these speakers. I listened to SCM12 and SCM20 in my search for better monitors and ended up with SCM20. Maybe you can contact ATC and inquire about replacement parts availability for T16. I haven't h

Focal Shape Twin vs Alpha Twin Evo - or something else ?

Pass on the Twins and its MTM design (lobing – directivity), unless you have a lot of space to place them nearly mid-field. The Shapes 65 is an excellent choice. Got somewhat under the radar for folks because of heating and standby issues once they were announced. I had no such issues. I have mine c

Why do people say Yamaha HS5 (or the entire HS series) is uncomfortable to listen to?

I heard the genelec 8030-8040 next to the hs80 in store. I don't understand why people prefer the more muffled sound of the genelecs. The store owner assured me all speakers were set to flat at the dials on the back. Maybe the 1031A are different.
