Are Genelecs really worth it?
I recently got a pair of 8040 and they are superb. I have had Adam f5 before and they were great too, but not as good as genelec. The Adam has a really special sound because of that tweeter, but the genelec are little more coherent and accurate, in my opinion.

Genelec 8030b— my second pair of speakers ever!
I always wonder how many people that buy these don't know about the dip switches. Hopefully not many. The other thing no one talks about is how much louder they are than people think. Can easily throw them in most small/medium sized rooms and will have zero issues being loud enough and have almost c

I need help choosing monitoring speakers!
I would not get a 25 year old active speaker. There are lots of options around the PMC result6 price point like the Genelec 8040 or Neumann KH150. Ascilab is also Korea based and worth looking into.

Monitors with similar mid range response as Barefoot Footprint 02
i don't really know many brands in that price range with the quality of the barefoots. If you are looking specifically at 3-way, I recommend looking into these: HEDD Type 20 A-Core or MK2 (probably better than the Adam 8H) Dynaudio LYD 48 Kali SM-8 And if it doesn't have to be 3-way, that opens up m

which translate better ? Barefoot Footprint 01 vs Genelec 8040B
I haven't mixed on Barefoot, but I have on Genelec 8040 and found it misleading. My impression was that the two drivers don't integrate very well at nearfield distances, and because the monitors are so detailed they can clearly present a mix that lesser monitors would struggle with due to masking an

Klipsch x Euphonia
Hifi speakers are generally voiced or designed for distance listening. Get yourself some decent near field monitors especially since you have a high end digital mixer with those excellent Neve transformers to really appreciate this mixer. I have owned a lot of high end rotary mixers including ARS. T

Suggestions for a living room setup
Another consideration is that while Genelec subwoofers are great, especially the SAM models with room correction, they are also quite expensive. Non-SAM speakers like the 8040B can be paired with a subwoofer like a Kali WS-12 that costs 30% of a Genelec 7360A.

Tempted to go from Focal shape 65 to Kali IN8V2, please talk me out of it guys
Absolutely agreed on the non-coaxial Genelecs, the 8351s we have are pretty remarkable and smoke the Kalis (as they should for $5k/each), but the Kalis really hold their own against the 8050s and 8040s. And yeah, even working at 80db is a lot for me, 75 is my sweet spot and I feel like the Kalis rea

Genelec 8040B vs Barefoot footprint03
I love the genelec 8331. I think the 8040 and the barefoot both make everything sound good which is fun but doesn’t lead to good mixes that translate. Amphion are awesome. Adam A8 are incredible mixing tools. And the Neumann kh120 are very honest as well
