Genelec 8030b— my second pair of speakers ever!

I always wonder how many people that buy these don't know about the dip switches. Hopefully not many. The other thing no one talks about is how much louder they are than people think. Can easily throw them in most small/medium sized rooms and will have zero issues being loud enough and have almost c

Monitors with similar mid range response as Barefoot Footprint 02

i don't really know many brands in that price range with the quality of the barefoots. If you are looking specifically at 3-way, I recommend looking into these: HEDD Type 20 A-Core or MK2 (probably better than the Adam 8H) Dynaudio LYD 48 Kali SM-8 And if it doesn't have to be 3-way, that opens up m

Suggestions for a living room setup

Another consideration is that while Genelec subwoofers are great, especially the SAM models with room correction, they are also quite expensive. Non-SAM speakers like the 8040B can be paired with a subwoofer like a Kali WS-12 that costs 30% of a Genelec 7360A.

And yeah, even working at 80db is a lot for me, 75 is my sweet spot and I feel like the Kalis rea

Is there any hope for me being able to do a "good" mix without expensive monitoring equipment? (especially when working with synths?)

It's possible to do good work on crap equipment, but it becomes increasingly unlikely the more crap your monitors and your room are. It's obviously a spectrum from good to bad. If you're working with sub-$1k monitors in a room with less than $2k of acoustic treatment, you can be sure your work will
