Hifi speakers are generally voiced or designed for distance listening. Get yourself some decent near field monitors especially since you have a high end digital mixer with those excellent Neve transformers to really appreciate this mixer. I have owned a lot of high end rotary mixers including ARS. T

Do you have any idea why my Genelec 8040A "fries" like this sometimes?

If you swap the connectors of tweeter and speaker and the crackle moves to the other speaker, then it is most likely capacitor C12 (15uF 50V) from the amplifier board. C12 is the output high pass filter for the tweeter amplifier. I had a genelec 8040 with pretty much same issue and I got rid of the

Genelec 8340a vs Dynaudio LYD-48?

I have a bunch of the speakers from this generation of Genelec. I have the original 8020s and they have lasted forever. My surround system is a mix of 8040 & 8020. 8020s appear to have the same tweeter as the other 80xx models.

Upgrading studio monitors for mixing/mastering — need your input

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer! My room is treated fairly well – just had some minor issues that I’ve managed to solve using Sonarworks, and it really helped dial things in. I’m currently using Kali 6s and feel okay with the woofer size, so the 8040 seems like a comfortable step up. I also loo

DJing from a Conservatory - best near field speakers?

I have used Classic Genelec near field monitors for years. Currently use the Genelec 8030c in white as they blend into my white lounge walls on their official mic stands which are space saving and can adjusted to any height, which also means you don’t need a large desk to accommodate monitors. They

Need an advice: Genelec vs Focal vs Neumann

It needs to be said that without room treatment and a good measuring mic you won't get correct bass response no matter what. I can only speak for Genelec, I went with 8020 a while ago. They're quite small and well made, and like the others in the range they come with a tiltable iso pod, which is a n

Genelec 8040b for general home audio

Hei du! Norsk genelec entusiast her.

8040b, what sub?

Some experience, yep! Genelec products are really built to last, and if they’re working, I’d say they’re usually working right. I’ve bought several each of several different models, including speakers (8320, 8330, 8040, 8340 and 8350) and subs (7260 and 7360) and not had any trouble with any. eBay a
