Speaker Recommendations? (PA vs Monitors)

Basically any small studio monitor will do the job. They’re all tuned to be flat and won’t color your sound much. I’m a fan of the Mackie HR 624, Adam A7x, Genelec 8010/8020, there are so many options. Yamaha and JBL have good budget options as well.

iLoud MTM MK2 vs Genelec 8010 — which for a small untreated room?

Replies here are mostly fanboying and probably never actually compared them. I myself was curious to try the small Genelecs and in this school I've had 6 months of hands on experience with both the MTMs and 8010/8020. For 400 don't bother, you won't have faithful mixes without other speakers or head

iLoud MTM MK2 vs Genelec 8010 — which for a small untreated room?

Genelec people will tell you Genelec is good. But 8010 will require a sub to monitor energy below 70Hz iLoud will give a more faithful, closer to full picture sound while Genelec will be more accurate within the narrower spectrum it can reproduce. Pick your poison

Beginner question: Would adding Genelec 8010s to my setup be an upgrade or just for A/B monitoring?

best result would be 8010 plus 7040 sub. Or any decent sub in your price range, like that JBL 10". It will cover lower frequencies so small genelecs can do well in the higher range.

What’s everyone’s favorite speakers?

I also use Genelecs, the baby ones 8010. Perfect for my needs, I need a flat un-coloured response for my work and these fit the bill.
