Best Garmin Watch for MTB

Fenix or epix line are both good, my epix Gen 2 is great can't fault it.

What kind of smart watch are you wearing on the trails AND in the office?

Garmin epix pro gen 2. If I had to get a new one right now, I'd get the new Fenix, whatever it is. 8? But I just wear it with bright silicone bands even with suits in court, because who cares.

Daily FI discussion thread - Thursday, February 26, 2026

Not the most frugal thing I know, I just splurged on myself with a new running watch, Garmin Epix Pro gen 2 sapphire. Ran be $450, and that is on sale. I run 1000-1500 miles a year and I like data. I think it will be worth it (and a lot better than the Vivoactive 4 I've been using since 2020.)

As an epix pro 2 user am I missing out on anything specific to a Fenix?

The epix gen 2 is basically a renamed fenix 7 but in AMOLED. I have the fenix 7 pro sapphire solar mip, wife has the epix gen 2, and they are identical in every way except for screen technology and solar. The fenix 7 did not come in AMOLED, they released that version as the epix. For the fenix 8 lin

Best Hiking Watch under £350

I spent lots of time researching which one would be best and it was a toss up between the Garmin Fenix 7 and the Epix 2, the difference being the EPIX has an OLED screen and 15 days of battery and the Fenix has rhe AMOLED and likely twice as much. Decided on the Epix Pro Gen 2 on sale at HSamuel and

Like I’m stupid, compare a 7 vs 8?

Fenix 7 has an older HR sensor, no LED flashlight except on 7X, and only has a MIP screen, the AMOLED model was called Epix Gen 2. Fenix 7 Pro / Epix Pro are basically the same as Fenix 8, with all the same sensors and internal hardware, and LED flashlight on every model, the main differences are: F

Techy Q - Apple vs Garmin

I’ve used both back and birth depending on how much working out consistently I’ve been doing. Apple Watch is a bit more integrated with iPhone but Garmin is leaps and bounds ahead for fitness stuff. My big recommendation though is make sure whatever model you get has Sapphire glass which is much mor

are there any actual gain from using fitness trackers/watch?

As a data nerd, I really enjoy seeing my fitness progress over time. That includes my heart rate, resting heart rate, VO2 max, sleep, workout performance, and even weight management. I’m currently reducing weight and planning to participate to a HYROX event next year, so seeing my speed, distance, a

Bike computer for a runner already using Garmin watch?

I've got the same watch and use an Edge 1040. It really is seamless. Training load, readiness etc just works between the devices. 840 is smaller, 1040 the same unit but bigger so easier if using it for navigation. I run using my Epix Pro Gen 2 Sapphire, and if cycling use the Edge, no need to do any

oh-where-oh-where has my fitbit gone?🥺👋

I was the ultimate Fitbit fanboy for years, i would upgrade to the newest flagship watch with every release. I switched over to a Garmin Epix gen 2 and it’s so much better. I thought I’d miss all my data, but you get over that and can start rebuilding quickly. There is noone on the Garmin forums tal
