Epix Gen 2

Not the most frugal thing I know, I just splurged on myself with a new running watch, Garmin Epix Pro gen 2 sapphire. Ran be $450, and that is on sale. I run 1000-1500 miles a year and I like data. I think it will be worth it (and a lot better than the Vivoactive 4 I've been using since 2020.)

The epix gen 2 is basically a renamed fenix 7 but in AMOLED. I’m waiting, the 8 processor is so slow and dated. The screen takes longer to turn on than my Epix gen 2 (non pro) does. IMO it’s half baked for what they cost these days. That being said, if I needed a new Garmin right now I would still buy it lol.

I picked up a Garmin Epix 2 two years ago for £430 and it came with all the maps of europe. I use it on basically every hike. I love it and it makes route planning way easier.

I want one. I was trying to between the instinct 3 or the epix gen 2. I went with the epix. I found it on Amazon for $300. My next watch will be an instinct.

The AMOLED watches are perfectly visible in sunlight. DCrainmaker has said as much in countless videos of his to point of it not being a valid reason not to get AMOLED. Well after the fenix 7 pro / Epix gen 2 pro the Epix is no more, it has become the Fenix Amoled. Personally I’m happy with the amoled screens, although I use a very minimalistic watchface.
