Nova Lite 2

If they just made their controllers with Hall Effect joysticks, they would be worth it much more. Maybe also include back buttons by default. Yes, I've been spoiled by the Gamesir Nova 2 Lite (it's marginally cheaper than the Xbox controllers, and better in most ways).

I currently use GameSir Nova Lite 2.4g Wireless Controller which has hall effect joysticks and triggers and can be found relatively cheap. It works over bluetooth well enough however I can't speak for latency as I don't play games where that may be a factor.

Buying the Xbox controller again would have the advantage of you being already aquainted with the controller, no learning curve. If you'd like something similiar, but less expensive, maybe have a look at the gamesir nova 2 lite, the dpad is amazing and it has hall effect sticks, so you wouldn't need

In my opinion you shouldn't spend a lot on your first controller. You usually have no idea what you actually need so get something that's very budget friendly and won't make you cry if it doesn't work out. Well, you're getting 2 extra mini bumpers, mouse click triggers, gyro, TMR sticks, and the Xbox license. It's a clear upgrade from Nova 2 Lite, but if none of the above is important to you, then there's no reason to upgrade.
