What light to get?

The HM65R is hands-down the most high quality light that won’t break the bank. The biggest advantage it has is the flood and spot lights being able to operate independently and simultaneously. I currently run one on my helmet with a zebra floody below in their warmest light tone to make up for the o

Headlamps on a budget

Energizer headlamp, like $6 on sale. Got me through years of backpacking and the beginnings of my trail running. For the more expensive kind get the Fenix HM65R-T and a couple extra batteries.

Head torch recommendations?

Most torches except some high end ones are made in China these days anyway and shipped around the world. I can buy pretty much any torch suggested by the USA'ians and get it shipped to Scotland without any trouble, in fact some are available on amazon or from independent resellers. One brand you cou

Official Q&A for Wednesday, January 14, 2026

Upgrade from $12 Walmart headlamp? I've been night running with this $12 Ozark Trail headlamp for years. My two complaints: It's heavy; as the elastic ages I'm cinching it uncomfortably tighter It munches disposable AAAs like a monster. Nothing like being out mid run and realizing it's shot for the

Headlamp recommendations for technical night trail training

I've really liked the Fenix HM62-T and it's 15 grams lighter then the HM65R-T and quite a bit cheaper. It's been a solid replacement to my Petzl RL Swift which is lighter (I think ~150 grams on the Fenix versus ~100 grams on the Petzl.) With the Fenix being wider and lower profile to the Petzl it wa

Winter is coming

Fenix HM65R-T V2.0 Running Headlamp. The headband also has incorporated reflective elements (more easily seen than what you'd have on a running singlet or shorts). Pricey, but I do run in some pitch black areas without lighting at night.

Advice on headlamps

I'm very satisfied with my Fenix HM65R-T. Bit heavy but worth the weight. Also comes in good price.

Headlamp recommendations for technical night trail training

The HS21's were my first experience with Sofirn and at the price point they're super impressive. It's a toss-up which I reach for between it and the Fenix. If that's any indication of their other offerings, I think they're a solid investment. Hope the HM65r-t v2.0 works great for you. I haven't had

Headlamp reccomendations?

Fenix HM65R-T V2, if don't have a limited budget, i would say Fenix HM65R-T V2 is the best answer, with a price around $100, pick it on Prime Day, holds a super long time(more than 300h), super comfortable and super reliable.

It’s getting darker in Sweden. Time for the headlamp season soon.

I run the Fenix HM65R-T V2.0. A fantastic bit of kit. Really comfortable with the wide headband and really easy to adjust with the BOA-system. It features a wide angle light and a spotlight. I've never had to run it at full power to have enough light for running on trails at night. It's not a cheap
