Upgraded from Bambino plus and smart grinder

At first, it was the ease of use and compatibility with the Breville Pro grinder. The dosage was preset, and it would grind directly into the portafilter—all I had to do was tamper. Great feature, and the same can be said about the automatic milk frothing. The ES1 definitely feels more substantial,

Unibody Portafilter AMA

I don’t know. It’s the portafilter that comes with the Fellow ES1. The basket falls out really easy. Kind of a crap design. The portafilter on my flair 58 holds its basket wonderfully and it doesn’t come out unless I press both thumbs through the bottom.

Red Fellow One Espresso Machine [$1599]

Personally, I would never buy a v1 product from a company that has no established history making that product. Fellow also has a sub-par reputation when it comes to build and software reliability. I don’t think the ES1 is user serviceable either, which would be a big reason for not getting it. Just

Choosing between Series 1 and Gaggia Classic Pro

As a fan of fellow products, my vote is GCP but talk them down by $100 or buy it new. The ES1 is beautiful and a technological wonder, but I think you will be just as happy with the gaggia. Especially in 2 years time when the gaggia still works.

Continue to wait for fellow espresso series one, or move on to something else? [$3,500]

So the temperature sensor on the wand is definitely something I haven't seen before: I would be concerned with accidentally touching the sensor against hot metal, stopping flow of steam. Auto-purging of steam wand when it's in down position is not necessarily something I would want. Pre-infusion / p

Help me decide between ECM Mechanika Slim PID vs Rocket Giotto Type V

Both are good machines with almost the same functions DB, PID, E61, 1.8-9l boiler, 2.5-8l reservoir etc. However you have to keep in mind the nature of the E61 group before you decide. It is pure brass and weighs just over 4kgs. So even if the machine supports fast heat-up, you are looking at minimu

Upgrade from BBP ? [$1000]

Maybe Gemilai Ele G3028A? Seems to tick most of your boxes, though aesthetics are subjective. It also has a temp probe in the steam wand so it'll stop at your desired temp which may be useful if you do a lot of milk drinks. It's basically an upgraded apex/legato, but with the downside of being force

The Fellow Espresso Series 1 Diffusion Plate is Plastic, Like a $300 Bambino

You're not seriously equating those concerned about microplastics to the anti-vax movement? It's the Decent and Fellow apologists here who are ignoring science. Microplastics are real, and well documented in the scientific community. But espresso geeks with too much money willfully ignore all that.
