long term vpn china?
If you're going to be in China for years, I'd honestly skip the free options. Free VPNs tend to get blocked fast or sell your data. For long term stability you're better off with a paid service that actively updates its servers. Astrill is still the most reliable for China, including Chengdu. It's e

Can I access ASB / ANZ banking apps overseas in China?
I could access them through my VPN. Sometimes it took upto 10min for the VPN to connect to the internet successfully though but I think I chose badly for a VPN (ExpressVPN). Otherwise if you're going on a tour and have a tour guide ask them for options as ours managed to get us Hong Kong SIM cards t

Connecting to a particular city/country, disconnecting, reconnecting - why default to fastest location not the previous connection?
r/ExpressVPN_Mods This update makes ExpressVPN totally and utterly useless and defeats the whole purpose of having a VPN. Seriously, what is the point of being able to select a location if whenever the signal drops or the VPN stalls it automatically reverts to the fastest location and a different co

Best vpn and e-sim to use in China
+1 to this. During my trip last month, my eSIMs from Airalo and Trip both worked perfectly, but the VPN I got just in case (ExpressVPN) didn't. (I also had NordVPN because I use it at home, but I knew in advance that it wouldn't work, because China made blocking it a priority)

Im a mainland china highschool student, ask me anything !
What VPN are you using because every fucking time I go to China, I have to spend like 3 hours trying to use Express VPN, and the second I connect to some shitty server in Zimbabwe, the connection gets cut. I am also a gamer, so I gotta have one that's actually able to handle a stable connection over

Confused between Proton and Express
I use both, and I have paid subscriptions to both services. At home, I have a router with ExpressVPN installed, and it works almost perfectly. I turned it on years ago and basically forgot about it. My only recent disappointment was that the service forced me to replace my router, which left a bit o

No more updates for non-Alcove routers after 12/31/25?
Again, ExpressVPN is going to lose a lot of customers if another competitor comes up with an "open router" option. In countries like China, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, etc... they CAN´T just order Alcove on Amazon or whatever. ExpressVPN may jump the shark if they decide to phase out their legacy router

working servers in Russia
The worst is when you think you are connected and nothing happens. This is a very common problem not only for ExpressVPN but for other VPNs in Russia. Right now my location of choice, previously down for half a day, has returned but according to whatismyipaddress dot com it's showing elsewhere. I sa

'Fastest Location auto-pick'
It just suggested Israel as the fastest location for South East Asian. ….What… But at least I am now aware that they do business heavily with Israel for them to be the fastest location from here. Sounds like it’s time to drop ExpressVPN

VPN news and what might be going on
Currently using ExpressVPN and it works a little. Generally gets blocked after a20 minutes or so but then comes right back later. Frustrating but not the worst. I also set up my own system (I work in IT so while what I have works it is tough to set up unless you already have experience and n IT rela
