I've used the Bose S1 and L1 systems a ton and they definitely have a problem with noise floor. I find the preamps specifically are super noisy. I've found sending a line level signal in with a TRS 1/4in helps compared to an XLR in. If you're considering returning it, I'd low key just get an EV Ever

If it fits your budget the EV Everse 8 is a great battery powered speakers for such things.
