Besides those all-in-on players like Crosley, Victrola, can you actually go wrong buying a turntable?

Newer Edifier MR3 (EAC review, EAC YT review) powered speakers are better than the old Edifier MR4 (EAC review, ASR review). Please note that these powered speakers don’t have a phono preamplifier.
