Edifier 1280 aren’t really considered an upgrade from presonus eris. Don’t be dumb with the volume and you will do better.

I would definitely second this. The 2M red is more a sidegrade with a different tonal signature than a straight upgrade from the VM95E. VM95ML or SH as upgrades. For a $500 budget skip the bare minimum 4" Edifier R1280DB & AudioTechnica LP60X. Better AT-LP120X $315 plus 6.5" Dayton Classic B65A $159.
