I just blew my speakers out….
Edifier 1280 aren’t really considered an upgrade from presonus eris. Don’t be dumb with the volume and you will do better.

It’s the Fluance RT85 worth the $500 ? This would be my 3rd turntable
I would use it with edifier R1280T speakers The basic entry level speakers are a sound quality bottleneck for your first, second and third turntable! r/vinyl Weekly Questions Thread for the week of January 19, 2026
For a $500 budget skip the bare minimum 4" Edifier R1280DB & AudioTechnica LP60X. Better AT-LP120X $315 plus 6.5" Dayton Classic B65A $159.

Starting out set-up
It's not a bad idea and certainly more appealing than the basic AT-LP60X and Edifiers 1280 that seems to be the default package for beginners. But personally I would go for passive speakers + separate components with that budget, as in e.g. £250 for the turntable, £50 phono pre-amp, £100 amp and £15

Which is a better setup

The PLX1000 is better but not nearly worth the price of admission. So, as much as I disagree with many of their practices, I'd go for the Fluance and the edifier. Also those are the much better/mo
