Dynaudio BM5 with no sub will be better. The problem isn't price or quality. It's trying to mix with a sub. I have a dynaudio sub for my BM5a's. But I don't use it because it only makes the bottom louder, not more detailed.

Are vintage NS-10s becoming a case of diminishing returns in 2026?

There is a difference with speaker design and EQ. The NS-10's and auratones are closed back speakers. Makes them really TIGHT in the transient response but no real lowend. The Auratones play with only one midrange speaker and no crossover. It sound really meh but its really nice for listening to mas

dac Fosi audio ZD3 + Dynaudio bm5 mkIII = 1000,-€ (you can add SUB and isoacoustic stands) = 1500,-€smooth and warm sounding system same at low and high volume (Dynaudio have DSP and play bass to 42 Hz without sub)

Studio monitor rec

Dynaudio BM5a or Lyd series. Sounds great, more bass than you might expect, but not floppy or distorted bass.
