On my hands and knees, begging somebody to just tell me which ThinkPad model to buy.

My current main personal computer is a Dell Latitude 7490. It's been the best computer I've ever had. At ~6-7ish years old it still gets ~3-4ish hours of battery life, it can run off a DC barrel jack or USB-C power, and it meets the requirements for Windows 11. There's hundreds of them on eBay with

Revolutionizing the field (after I finish wrestling with APA).

I've been using it quite a while, it works fine. My rig is Dell Latitude 7490 with 8th gen core i5, 16gb ram, and I'm using office 2019 and zotero 7. Just make sure that Zotero is open while you use its word plugin. That way, when you add citation, the zotero prompt will appear.

I need help from the Thinkpad community to help me choose a laptop

Typically your first couple years in higher ed are fairly easy computationally, and further there's almost always remote resources available. The main reason a T480 isn't recommendable today isn't that it's too slow, I get by with 8th gen just fine, it's that T480 costs 2-4x what a similarly equippe

I need to replace my T480 - what should I buy?

If it still works perfectly well, why do you need a processor upgrade? How about a Dell Latitude 7490? 8-th gen Intel with two RAM slots. You can get it on eBay. If you really want a CPU upgrade, there’s the HP Elitebook 845 G9 with two RAM slots, a Ryzen 6000-series CPU, glass trackpad, and a keybo

I need a laptop for offshore work

Where's home? If you're living/buying from the USA, cross-shop Dell and HP, they're usually cheaper for similar/better build quality and often newer generations of hardware incl. better batteries. (And further: Because ThinkPads are an influencer meme many models simply cost up to 2x more than equiv

Odabir laptopa

...s druge strane, ja imam poslovni Dell 7420 (nezna

Minimum graphics actually look good?! Might be the way to go for low end PCs!

Hi, I hope this helps. I also have a low-end PC, a Dell Latitude 7490 (Intel Core i5 8th gen, and 12GB of RAM), and honestly, even on the lowest settings, the graphics look pretty good. My recommendation is that you change the game settings to "DirectX 12," since in DirectX 11 everything looks like

T480 or T14 or ... ?

Either should be fine. If the TrackPoint isn't a hard requirement you could also get away with a similar Dell Latitude (7490/7400) for cheaper. Or, step down to an E480/L480 or Latitude 5490/5400. I'm personally using a Latitude 7490 with i5-8250U, 16GB of RAM, and a 256-gig SSD for all my personal
