Interesting. If the result is coffee spraying everywhere, then I had the same problem when I tried to use a bottomless portafilter on my DeLonghi Stilosa. I just assumed (and still do) that the Stilosa just didn't have what it takes to use a bottomless portafilter - and went back to the pressurized.
