In Germany, nearly everyone new to espresso chooses the DeLonghi Dedica as the first machine as it's a decent machine for its price. Don't know it's price in the US though

In a similar situation, we replaced the nespresso aluminum trash machine with a DeLonghi Dedica 680. Costs around 150€, does work with any coffee.

Nekem DeLonghi Dedica karos főzőm van. Nem darál, az őröltet kell beletenni, amit én pár napra előre ledarálok, kis csatos gumis üvegtárolóban tartom. Nincs lényegi különbség, nagyon finom kávét főz. Kb félévente kell vízkövetleníteni, amit kijelez.
