Help me to decide which one is the best budget router
One of the cheapest routers right now is the EDUP RT2980 AX3000 which has a slightly newer revision of the same CPU with half the ram of the Cudy TR3000. Wireguard is generally not as RAM intensive and so you should get equal performance at half the cost. I have 3 of these running in access point mo

Help me to decide which one is the best budget router
Ditch the AX3200. The Cudy TR3000 is a dedicated networking powerhouse disguised as a travel router. For a VPN setup, the Filogic 820 CPU + 512MB RAM combo destroys the older MediaTek chip in the Xiaomi. ⚠️ Critical Warning: The "New Batch" Issue Since you are interested in OpenWrt/ImmortalWrt (impli

Will Cudy TR3000 benefit from OpenWRT upgrade, in terms of USB sharing speed?
I just tested with LAN connection and write speed is steady 90mb/sec and read speed is about 110mb/sec, which really great for this small device. Update to OpenWRT is tempting thing, but the issue is, that I have Cudy BE6500, which I'm planning to install later as main wifi router, and use TR3000 as

Travelrouter
Cudy TR1200 oder TR3000 für ~20€/60€ sind auch ok. OS basiert wie bei GLinet auf Openwrt, man kann aber auch plain Openwrt mit z.B. Travelmate flashen. Habe den 1200er im Einsatz. Keine Rakete, aber macht was es soll.

Opinions on the Cudy TR3000 AX3000 Travel Router
That's basically a GL-MT3000 with 128 MB instead of 256 MB. I've one GL-MT3000 and two Cudy TR3000 and use them as repeaters (Flint 2 is the main router), great units. You can install vanilla OpenWRT on both. Yes, USB tethering is possible with stock firmware.

Portable NAS with WiFi hotspot
Most cheap mini PC only using WiFi card that can't run in AP mode, for long term you can get something like GL-INET MT3000 or Cudy TR3000 and flash OpenWrt as your main AP there, the USB port on router can connect Android phones and/or some USB 4G modem to connect internet

Cudy TR3000 is not bad 🛜
It does support 160Hz channel on 5Ghz WIFI APs. With iperf3 test via 5Ghz AP of Cudy TR3000 (which is then connected to LAN via Ethernet cable) I am easily getting 900+Mbps to a local server. Pretty great.
